If I were a superhero...

Last night I was thinking, if I were a superhero what kind of super powers would I want to have. Well, I decided that I wanted night vision. Why? Because if I had night vision then I could find a lost binky in the middle of the night, and I wouldn't stub my toes on random toys and such when I had to get up in the middle of the night.
I'd also want the power to read kids minds. Especially the ones who can't talk yet. My life would be so much easier with that super power.
But since I'm not going to be a superhero anytime soo, I will just have to invent some cool night vision glasses. I'm thinking I would make them like the glasses that change when you go from inside to outside, but they would change from day to night. It would have a sensor that if you went into a dark room you could see, or if your fridge light went out you could still see what was in it. It would also have a button you coulda press to turn the night vision off, like if you went to the movies or were star gazing.

As for the reading kids minds, I guess I'm just going to have to rely on my "mother's intuition" for that one...bummer

My Orchard

So I have an analogy about my life...it is like an orchard. A fruit orchard. It is filled with a bunch of trees and I am the one who takes care of all the trees. I prune them, keep them watered and fertilized. I have to make sure they get enough sun light and that I take the bad fruit off the trees and keep the weeds away. So, here is what all that means...the trees=Hayden, Sadie, Carson, my marriage, my church calling, myself, my household, etc. The water=the gospel. The sun=my faith. The bad fruit=bad habits. The weeds=Satan. And the fertilizer=my energy. As of right now, none of the trees in my orchard are dead or dying, so that a good sign. BUT, the "myself" tree is very overgrown and need some serious tending too. I have been putting all my energy (fertilizer) into other trees, mainly my kids and my household. I need to figure out how to disperse my energy to all the trees evenly. There's a problem though, my fertilizer works TOO well. As soon as I prune and care for one tree, I move on to the next and the previous tree regrows IMMEDIATLY! I don't even have to move on to another tree for that to happen. I could just take a break, or get sick or get distracted and BAM there goes all my hard work. Ah, but what to do about it all. I told my hubby that I wish I could hire someone to come and help me get on top of my orchard, but alas, my orchard is surrounded by a huge brick wall and I have lost the key to the gate. I can hear others on the outside calling to me and giving me support and cheering me on. But sometimes those can be distractions too. (Now to add a spiritual outlook) I know that the "Land Owner" can help me out. He doesn't need a key, I just have to ask and He'll be there. He gave me this orchard to tend to, knowing that I would be able to make it beautiful and plentiful. He has provided me the tools to get it done as well (I.e. the prophets, the scriptures, prayer, etc.) He understands it's hard work and that it can be discouraging at times because He had His own orchard before He became the owner of the land.

Now it's extremely late and I am so very cold (my ceiling fan is going and I'm right under it) so off to sleep I go, hi ho hi ho-it off to sleep I go....

Every Wonder...What If?

So as I was sitting around today I got to thinking about what my life would have been like it certain things had or had not have happened in my life. Like, what if my family and I never moved from Arizona? Would I have continued my volleyball "career"? Or what if we never moved from Sandy? Would I have stayed with drama and theatre? Would I have been preggo at 16? Or what if I had done better in school? Would I have gone to college? What if I never moved to Indiana? Would I have been a different person then who I am today? Would I have married "So n' So" or "What's His Name" or someone I had never even met? What if I stayed in Indiana? Would I have gone into sports medicine? Would I still be single? I wonder who I would have met and how my life would have been if I had made different choices. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my life. I am extremely happy and I know that I am where and who I am supposed to be. But sometimes I just wonder. I hope that when I die I will get to see a movie of the "What ifs" that would have been.

This is my "Adult Interaction"

Ok, it has almost been 2 years since my last post and a ton has happened in my life. Because I don't get out as much and I keep loosing my notebooks in which I keep my thoughts in, I will be blogging more to help with my sanity. I welcome comments and others thoughts, just know that I will most likely speak my mind here and you might not like it. With all that said, on to more posts....

Beware: Feeling Chatty!!!!

So I think I'm in a chatty sort of mood. :) So I will type up ALL the things that have been going on with the Funk family. (Or at least all that I can remember.)

First off, I'm having a boy.

We can't decide on a name yet. We like the name Briant. But we can't decide between William Briant, Briant Parker, or Briant Stephen. OR really if we want Briant at all. Hayden thinks we should name him Yoshi or Luigi (Mario's brother). But we'll see. Doctor says he's measuring just right.

So we took Hayden out of preschool, but he seems to be just fine with that. We've been working on some learning stuff here at the house, so it's ok. Especially since we do "learning time" with Sadie too. We just started having him earn some money by doing some extra chores around the house. We call them "side jobs". We learned about money, and how to earn it, then what we do with it once we have some. He's really excited to buy some stuff. He's already making a list of what he wants.

Sadie Bug has been a hand full. But her personality is REALLY starting to come out. It's cute, she's not the monster she started out to be. She really likes to take care of baby dolls and carry around the puppy stuffed animals. She has broadened her movie viewing from Looney Toones, to Little Einsteins, Shrek, and Super Why. So that is good. She likes to help pick out my clothes in the morning and help me put my slippers on. She's such a little mom. Don't get me wrong though...she is a PEST to Hayden. And she does it cause she can. I tell her NO, she smiles and thinks I'm funny...oh joy.

Our basement is 99% finished now. (Matt is STILL working on finishing the shower) But I have moved stuff downstairs (with the help of a wonderful sister and a super strong friend.) Matt wans't too thrilled, he said I shouldn't be moving stuff when I'm expecting. I looked at him, smiled and asked how he was going to stop me. It's SO nice to have a room just for the kids toys. I didnt' think it would make that big of a difference, but it's suprising how much it does. Nothing is hanging on the walls yet, but that's ok...i'm just taking my time, and making it look how i want it to. I do have to say, a newly finished basement is a nesting mothers DREAM! I swear I have vaccumed at least 100 times down stairs, just because it's so nice and clean.

I'm really excited that I get to spend every sunday with my wonderful husband again. He doesn't have to go preside over another ward this year, and that makes me oh so happy. Especially since I'm going to have my hands full in May.

Pretty much things are good all around. We're working on getting out of debt, and working on becoming better people...and blah blah blah all that jazz. Lots of work to do.... Ok, I think I'm done now. All chatted out...good.

Chick Flicks

So I have a love/hate relationship with chick flicks. I like to watch them, expecally when they are funny. They make me laugh and feel good. then after I watch them I hate life. Ok, maybe not that extreame. But It's aggraviating because guys in real like are NOT like those in chick flicks. Most of them do not do the cute things they do in the movies. That makes me upset because it then causes me to get upset with my husband, who i love and is wonderful. It's not his fault he is not like the guys in the movies. I honestly think NO ONE is like the guys in the movies. It makes me mad at the movie makers because it's like they are creating this wonderful guy that doesn't exist. arg. there's more, but i can't really think stright right now and my son is done taking his bath......
